    Salam!
First off, I’d like to say your presentation in Edmonton was amazing. It was nice to get a lecture that the youth can connect to. Personally, it really made me think about my life and the decisions I make regarding religion.

There was a period in my life where I did not remember religion at all. Although I grew up in a practicing family, as I grew into my teenage years I started to drift away from Islam. I started [doing wrong things]. Obviously my family did not know about any of this but, they recently found out about the cigarettes. Anyways, I got to the point where I was making excuses to get out of going to the mosque. I couldn’t remember the last time i fasted or prayed Eid prayers; or any prayers for that matter. But, through all of this, I still felt like I was muslim. I could never eat pork; no matter [what]. As ridiculous as it sounds, I just didn’t have the heart to do it.

About a month ago, I had a dream of waking up to an imam calling out for prayers. He had the most beautiful voice I’ve ever heard. Surprisingly, I was so glad to hear the worship of Allah being declared. When I woke up, I prayed two rakas and sat on the prayer rug thinking for an hour. All those times I was [doing wrong] and that feeling cant even compare to this feeling. For the first time in a long time, I felt so peaceful; like a burden was lifted off of my shoulders. Allhamdulillah.

Ever since then, I’ve been trying to turn my life around; turn back to Allah and ask for forgiveness. Although it hasn’t been an easy task, its one that I continue to work towards. I just wanted to share my story with you because you gave me hope that change is not as difficult as it may seem. You’ve inspired me to change today. Procrastination was the poison killing me; you’ve shown me that and for that I’d like to thank you. Inshaallah Allah will reward you with whatever your heart desires. Amen.

  20. Shadia says:

Masha Allah, you was livin that fast life and then Allah guided you. You was busy husslin and enjoying the illusions of this world and then you realized your purpose in life. I see you so busy with the youth, helping them get on the right path after the way you was influencing them before; you gonna get so much reward in the hereafter that I’m jealous of you brother, in a good way. We from Chicago and when my brother saw the lecture you gave in Australia, he was blown away cuz there is just so much that he can relate to. But he got back into the club scene and drifted away may Allah guide Him. Alhamdullaah who has guided the Muslims and may Allah give us all jannah. Wasalam.
